Sound Doctrine
Introduction.
Scripture
speaks often about “sound doctrine.” In this lesson we will consider some
principles it teaches regarding “sound doctrine.”
I.
Teachers of the Gospel Must Speak Sound Doctrine.
A. Titus
was to speak “sound doctrine” (Titus 2:1-3).
B. Timothy
was to follow “good doctrine” (1 Tim. 4:6-7).
C. They
must teach “no other doctrine” (1 Tim 1:3-4).
II.
Elders Must Uphold Sound Doctrine.
A. They
must “exhort” and “convict” by “sound doctrine” (Titus 1:9).
III.
False Doctrine Cannot Be Tolerated.
A. This
would be to share in “evil deeds” (2 John 9-11).
B. We
must “test the spirits” (1 John 4:1-3).
C. We
must be “watchful in all things” (2 Tim. 4:3-5).
IV.
Jesus’ Attitude toward False Doctrine.
A. He
commanded His disciples to beware of it (Matt. 16:5-12).
B. It
is to engage in “vain” worship (Matt. 15:8-9).
C. It
is taught by “ravenous wolves” (Matt. 7:15-20).
V.
Worldly Doctrines are Contrary to Christ.
A. They
cheat one of the things of Christ (Col. 2:6-8).
B. “Strange
doctrines” are of no profit (Heb. 13:7-9).
C. We
must not follow every “wind of doctrine” (Eph. 4:11-15).
